Following a career in law enforcement in Canada, Scott made the jump to Corporate Security & Emergency Management in the Oil & Gas Industry, spending the majority of the past 14 years with PetroChina Canada.

With PetroChina Canada, Scott was tasked with leading security operations (physical, personnel, EP) and intelligence for the company’s oil & gas assets. As an Incident Command System (ICS) instructor, Scott also oversaw incident management and ICS training for his company as well as numerous global affiliates. Scott’s work with PetroChina has taken him around the globe assisting the organization with developing security and emergency management programs.

In May of 2022, Scott left Canada and accepted a role as the Director of Security for the residential properties of the Lucas Family. In that role Scott built a comprehensive security program for the various residences as well as a talented team of Executive Security Agents, SOC Operators & Security Systems Specialists.

Earlier this year, Scott accepted the role of Chief Security Officer for Skywalker and now oversees the security for not only the family and their residences but also the numerous corporate holdings for the organization.

Scott has recently completed many years of volunteer leadership, including the Global Board of Directors for ASIS International, President of the Executive Board of the ASIS CSO Center and interim Vice President of the Board of Executive Protection Professionals. Scott also currently serves as the vice-chair of the Board of Directors for a local Marin County Bank.

With a National Diploma in Police Administration, Rory Steyn has an accomplished history in the South African Police, where he specialised as an investigator, intelligence field-worker and as section head of the police VIP Protection and Bomb Disposal Units in Johannesburg.

Upon being transferred to the Pretoria-based Presidential Protection Unit in 1996, Rory was appointed team leader of President Mandela’s personal protection team, entailing the protection of the President both nationally and internationally.

He retired from the SA Police Service on 17 June 1999 with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and set up his own security consultancy with his partner, Bob Nicholls. NSA Global Security Consultants is South Africa’s largest executive protection employer counting Fortune 500 and blue-chip companies among their clients.

Rory is a global expert in cricket security having served on the Security Directorate of the ICC Cricket World Cup hosted by South Africa in 2003 and again in 2007 in the West Indies. He went on to chair the Security Directorates of the inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy tournaments hosted by South Africa in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

NSA Global were security consultants to the first eight editions of the highly successful Indian Premier League. NSA is contracted to Cricket South Africa and support all of its tournaments, leagues and international tours since 1999.

Rory has successfully completed an engagement as Head of Security for the three USA venues in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

He has worked at the Athens, Beijing, London and Rio-de-Janeiro Summer Olympic Games, and the 2010 Vancouver and 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games on behalf of NSA’s clients. Rory also consulted to the successful Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid.

NSA was proud to be contracted by a number of FIFA’s commercial partners during the successful and incident-free FIFA World Cup hosted by South Africa in 2010; and Rory continued this in Brazil in June and July of 2014.

Rory is a respected and sought-after conference speaker, and is regularly interviewed on South African media regarding private security and policing matters.

He has completed twelve Comrades marathons, holds Green Number 42743 and has run numerous marathons for charity. He fulfilled his dream to complete a marathon on each of the seven continents when he finished the Antarctic Marathon in April 2013. Rory became an Ironman in Port Elizabeth in April 2013. He founded ‘The African Icons Invitational’ in 2018 – a charity cycle ride raising funds in support of the children of police officers slain in the line of duty. This charity continues hosting Rides in support of those families to the present day.

Rory is married to Gillian, a school headmistress. They have three sons, Kyle, Iain and Craig.

Bryan directs threat assessment practitioners who are responsible for the assessment and management of thousands of cases of inappropriate pursuit, threats, and harassment, including situations involving mentally ill stalkers, disgruntled current and former employees, stalkers who pursue their victims at the workplace, interpersonal stalking, and domestic violence. He provides consultation on safety and privacy for at-risk individuals, and he has managed some of the Nation’s most sensitive investigations for public figures.

Bryan also directs a staff of intelligence analysts responsible for conducting security assessments on behalf of at-risk individuals and public figures traveling internationally. He advises clients regarding the management of risks such as terrorism, civil unrest, extremist ideologies, and political instability.

Bryan oversees our Advanced Threat Assessment Academy, where threat assessment experts provide training to members of the public and private sectors on topics related to the prediction and management of violence.

Bryan oversees our MOSAIC Threat Assessment Systems, including MOSAIC for Assessment of Public Figure Pursuit (MAPP); Threats to Judges (MAJ); Domestic Violence (DV-MOSAIC); Threats in the Workplace (MAT W); and Threats by Students (MAST).

Bryan managed protection details of public figures at their residences, at high-profile events, and during international travel. He has worked with the U.S. Secret Service and foreign government agencies during the planning and implementation of security operations involving public figures, U.S. Presidents, and foreign heads of state.

Bryan served in the U.S. Marine Corps, providing security and logistical support for the U.S. President, the Vice President, and the Secretary of State. He was a member of the elite Embassy Security Battalion, responsible for the safety of U.S. diplomats in Kyrgyzstan and Israel. He served as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant, a deputized police officer for the Provost Marshal’s office in Camp Pendleton, California, and as an Instructor at the Jungle Warfare Training Center in Japan.

“Since my first training from the U. S. Secret Service, ‘Threat Assessment in Schools’ in December 2002, what we now know as Behavioral Threat Assessment & Management (BTAM) has become a passion and a niche for me.”

In 2022, Rick Parfitt joined AT-RISK International to serve as the Director of Threat Management, where he is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the development and implementation of security strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats, helping to ensure the safety and security of clients and their assets.

Prior to joining AT-RISK International, Mr. Parfitt held several high-level municipal and campus policing positions in both Pennsylvania and Florida, where he created a campus police agency and served as its chief for 11 years. Additionally, Mr. Parfitt served as the Director of Safety and Security for a large Florida school district, where he developed their behavioral threat management program, creating teams in 119 schools and training over 1,200 school administrators, school mental health personnel, and school resource officers. He also served as a police academy instructor and an adjunct college instructor in Pennsylvania and Florida colleges.

Mr. Parfitt is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), where he served as the first president of ATAP’s Florida Chapter and a Certified Threat Manager through the Association. He has been a member of several professional law enforcement organizations, including the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), the FBI National Academy Associates, and the Florida and Southwest Florida Police Chief’s Associations.

Kirsten England, PhD, is an assistant professor of instruction in the School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies at the University of South Florida. She earned her PhD in Public Administration and Public Policy from the University of Tennessee Knoxville where she also graduated with a Masters degree in Public Policy and American Politics. Her undergraduate degree is from the Florida Southern College where she studied Pre-Law, Political Science and Psychology. Dr. England’s research focuses on the education policy and the US courts. She looks at the rise of recent, though fleeting, education policies and their diffusion among states. She also studies and has presented on the US solicitor general and their influence on the US Supreme Court using principal-agent theory. Her current research focuses on the variables that surround mass shooting incidents in order to help prevent them in the future. Her research group has a novel database that looks at various venues and demographics to better understand the how’s and the why’s of the mass shootings incidents.

Dr. Anna Leimberg is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Austin Peay State University (APSU). She received her B.S. from Barry University in Sociology in 2015, her M.S. from Florida International University (FIU) in Criminal Justice in 2017, and her Ph.D. from FIU in International Crime and Justice in 2021. Before her academic appointment at APSU, she was an Adjunct Professor at both Barry University and FIU.

She was born in Moscow, Russia, and raised in New York. In 2013, she moved to Miami, Florida, to pursue her educational career and relocated to Clarksville, Tennessee, in 2022 to teach at APSU.

Her research interests include juvenile delinquency, peer influence, gang membership, juvenile justice, public policy, unstructured socializing with peers, self-control theory, adolescent substance use, youth handgun carrying, domestic violence prosecution and sentencing, and school and mass shootings. Her research has been published in the Journal of Drug Issues, Crime & Delinquency, Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, The Close Protection & Security Journal, and Gangland: An Encyclopedia of Gang Life from Cradle to the Grave.

She has taught a range of classes, including Introduction to Criminal Justice, Human Trafficking, Criminal Justice and Public Policy, Sociology of Violence, Race, Class, and Crime, Drugs and Society, Perspective Consciousness and Social Justice, Research Methods, Juvenile Delinquency, Juvenile Justice, Senior Capstone in Criminal Justice, Victimology, and Critical Issues in Criminal Justice.

Her hobbies when not teaching or conducting research include going to the beach, traveling, cooking and trying new cuisines, and going to the movies.

Dr. Mary Beth Janke

Dr. Mary Beth Janke has over 30 years of psychology, security, and investigative experience. As a psychologist, Dr. Janke has worked with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment challenges, trauma, women’s issues, stalking and domestic violence, and substance abuse. Dr. Janke has also conducted research and published work in the areas of stalking and domestic violence, self-esteem and young women, and stress management.

Dr. Janke earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology after an illustrious and varied career that included being a Special Agent in the Washington Field Office of the United States Secret Service. She went on to become a protection agent on numerous government contracts and was the only female to ever officially protect a foreign president outside of the United States.

Dr. Janke holds a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Widener University in Philadelphia and a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. She received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Indiana University in Bloomington, along with a minor degree in Spanish Language, following intensive studies at the Universidad de Sevilla.

Dr. Janke currently works as a consultant in the fields of forensic and clinical psychology and continues to consult in the areas of threat assessment and protective security. She is the Director of Special Projects for Hunter Global Security Strategies, an international security and investigative firm. Additionally, Dr. Janke taught Abnormal Psychology and the Psychology of Crime and Violence at the George Washington University in Washington, DC for four years, through the Fall of 2021.

In April of 2020, Dr. Janke’s book, ‘The Protector: A Woman’s Journey from the Secret Service to Protecting VIPs in the World’s Most Dangerous Places’ was published. It is a memoir of her life as told through the exciting and dangerous missions she accepted as one of the few females in the world of international executive protection.

Prior to his move into the healthcare vertical, Mark provided close protection leadership at various levels for Dr. Henry Kissinger, Bill and Melinda Gates, two presidents of the Republic of Haiti, and a very private Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) family.

He has also led consulting, security operations, and training for Fortune 500 companies, Forbes listed families, and high-profile NGO’s around the world.

Before entering the private sector, Mark served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for over a decade, including more than three years as a Presidential Helicopter Security Leader at Marine Helicopter Squadron – One (HMX-1).

Over the course of his distinguished career, Mark has led a wide range of complex security operations in 73 countries and 49 US states.

TJ Klomp joined Amazon in August 1999. As the Chief Physical Security Officer, he leads all of Amazon’s physical security efforts at Amazon corporate offices, Amazon MGM Studios locations, and events worldwide. Prior to becoming the Chief Physical Security Officer in 2024, he served as Vice President, Protective Services. In his role as Vice President Protective Services, TJ developed and expanded a specialized emergency response capability across Amazon’s campuses and Data Center locations; built intelligence analysis functions to inform and support Amazon’s safety and security worldwide; and developed the team’s tailored suite of physical security across Amazon business lines as the company expanded. An expert in emergency response and protective intelligence, TJ is also responsible for conceptualizing, creating, and leading Executive Protection for Amazon’s founder between 1999 and 2015, and his team now provides world-class protection for Amazon’s CEOs and senior executives.

Prior to joining Amazon, TJ was a person crime detective for Kirkland Police Department in Washington, where he also worked undercover and served on the SWAT team. TJ holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law & Justice from Central Washington University and currently lives in Washington with his wife.

A Harvard Medical School graduate, Dr. Guirguis is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. With extensive experience in Pre-Hospital Care, Tactical Medicine, and Flight Medicine, he's a Reserve Sheriff Deputy with San Bernardino Sheriff Air Rescue team.
